MG Red Shift DPF Cat Cleaner is a fuel additive that cleans the diesel particulate filter (DPF/FAP) and the catalytic converter in diesel engines. It lowers the soot burn-off temperature, restores exhaust flow and extends the intervals between regenerations. Suitable for all DPF-equipped vehicles and ideal for city driving.

A particulate filter needs high exhaust temperatures to burn off the soot it collects – and short city trips almost never provide them. Interrupted regenerations follow one another, soot keeps building up, the engine loses power and eventually the car drops into limp mode with a DPF warning on the dash. One 250 ml bottle added to 50 litres of diesel helps the filter clean itself during normal driving – long before a workshop visit becomes the only option.

How it works

The active components travel with the fuel through the combustion chambers and settle in the soot layer inside the particulate filter. There they act as a combustion catalyst: soot that normally needs around 600 °C to burn starts oxidising at significantly lower temperatures – temperatures the exhaust reaches even in everyday driving. The filter regenerates passively, flow is restored and the residues leave the exhaust system as harmless gases – no dismantling, no flushing, no workshop visit.

Directions for use

• Add the product to the fuel tank before refuelling
• Dosage: one 250 ml bottle treats 50 litres of diesel
• After adding, a longer drive at moderate engine load helps the filter regenerate fully
• Use preventively every few thousand kilometres, or whenever regenerations become frequent
